Chrisitne LO, singer and writer from Taiwan, moved to Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2017, where she began creating contemporary art using torn tights worn by herself and close friends.
Her Worn Out collection symbolizes the expectations that society projects towards women, as if they had to be perfect at all times, like tights that cannot be worn torn. Michelangelo said that he had seen the angel in marble and sculpt until he released him. Whenever the artist sees “tears” in her tights, they are precious objects of art in her eyes: the tear may be due to a missed bus, a delayed meeting, a blocked zipper, an embarrassing date.
These tears are like all these small and big frustrations and failures in life dancing in her soul. And all together, they retrace a beautiful journey of the relentless pursuit of a woman in her life.
